Recovery Days

Ok so I planned on running a lot and jumping back into my training plan this week, it didn't happen. I don't know if it was the 7 miles on Sat or the bootcamp workout on Sun but I must have pulled my injured muscle again. I tried to run on Monday and it felt like it did that first weekend. So I have not run at all this week and I think I am going to try to not run until at least next Mon or Tues. I'll just have to wait and see how I am feeling. I am thinking the half that I had planned is out so I am going to search for another one. I do have one planned in June and I think I can find some more that are close to home.

I have been doing yoga and strength training this week. Today I am planning on swimming. My sis, her husband, and niece are coming today for the weekend. I am so excited to see Marlee, she is already 2 weeks old, I can't believe it! So I am planning on lots of family time and hopefully I can sneak into the gym occasionally. That is one of the hardest things about not running, having to go to the gym to work out instead of just taking off outside when I have a chance or jumping on the treadmill when the kids are sleeping.

Time To Get Moving

I looked at my calender last night and realized I only have 8 weeks until my planned half marathon. I'd better get to work! I did a boot camp video yesterday and I have hill repeats today. My leg is a little sore today so I am going to wrap it and hopefully I'll be fine. I think I am going to order some compression shorts since it's hard to wrap my thigh/glute. I am planning on ramping up my milage this week along with 3 strength workouts and yoga, if I am going to run this half I want to have a good time. My goal is around 2:05, although I would love to break 2 hours.

On the home front I am clearing out the upstairs so we can start tearing out walls. Our original plan was to add on but I am not sure if we can do that this year financially. We live in an old house that has a lot of little rooms, now that the basement is finished we are going to turn the extra bedrooms into one big living room. I can't wait! Right now it is hard to have more than 2 people over without being crammed into the living room.

7 on the 7th

My company my hubby works for had a sledding party, so we took the kids and had so much fun. It was a beautiful day, staying in the 20's. We got a workout in just running up and down the hill pushing kids off and catching them at the bottom! We wore everyone out, my kids were asleep before we left the parking lot on the way home!

Once we were home and the kids in bed I went for my run. The sun was going down soon but it was still so nice I had to run outside. I was able to run 5.4 miles outside before it was too cold and I couldn't see so I finished on the treadmill. I am very happy with my time, I think I posted my goal as 1:04 and I finished in 1:01:12! I am really surprised at that because I had been eating cookies and hot dogs all day at the hill. I also had only drank maybe a cup of water all day. I did feel it during my run! I also realized why I run faster on the treadmill, I have better form! Outside I end up slouching, with my head down watching the road. When I am on the treadmill I stand up straight looking straight ahead and I am always focused on my abs and shoulders. I really tried to focus when I was outside and it helped a lot, I just had to keep reminding myself. Now if I can just remember all the time my runs would be a lot easier!

Tired Legs

I started out yesterday on my run and my legs felt like I was carrying 15 lbs on each leg. I started up the lake road which has a lot of hills and was fairly icy so I took it slow. I just followed the bike path through town which was better, very little ice . It took about 3 miles before my legs felt good, but the end of the run felt great. I didn't run the 7 like planned(I didn't have time), but I did get in 6 with a negative split. Yay!

Last night JR and I did upper body work on the bow flex. Gavin was so excited and wanted to work out too so i did jumping jacks, crunches, and jump rope with him in between sets. It ended up being a good workout.

Today I did an easy 3 mile run. My legs are sore today and I didn't want to push it. I just got a foam roller this week and have used it a few times. It hurts! JR thinks I'm crazy as I roll on it and wince in pain, but it does make my legs feel better afterwards. I think I'll do yoga in the morning and take the rest of the day off. I am running the 7 on the 7th Saturday, hosted by Amanda at Runtothefinish.blogspot.com. I would put a link to it but I do not know how. I am just learning all this blog stuff.

Too much food

I don't know why but this week I have just been eating and eating. Overall I am eating healthy, just way too much food and only a little chocolate:). I have just been craving carbs for some reason. I stepped on the scale this morning and I am up a couple pounds, which I already knew by the way my pants fit. So it's time to cut down portion sizes and eat more fruits and veggies.

Yesterday I lifted for 45 minutes and played racquetball with hubby last night. Today I am planning on a 7 mile run, my mom has the kids this morning so I am just waiting until it warms up a little outside. Right now it's -6, but it should warm up quickly. The high today is suppose to be 40! I am so excited, I am hoping to take the kids out this afternoon, we all need some fresh air.

Super Bowl

We went to some friends house for the super bowl and had a blast. The kids wore themselves out running around, they are tired today! Early nap times for both. I did well with the food, I didn't gorge myself, although monkey bread is dangerous! I was glad it went quick or I would have not have been able to stop myself from eating until it was gone!

I managed 40 minutes of strength training and a 2 mile run beforehand. I finished week 4 day 2 of the hundred pushup challenge and I'm not sure if I can do more! I was shaking on the final 3 pushups, I don't know how I'll add 5 more to that set! Today I ran 2.5, spinning for 10 minutes, and elliptical for 10 minutes. I am planning on running for at least 2 more miles while the kids sleep.

Stress Relief

I woke up yesterday feeling a little grouchy and irritated. After being gone for almost a week and coming home and jumping right into our week has left my house a mess, which always leaves me feeling grouchy. So around noon it warmed up to 20 degrees and the sun was shining so I left the hubby and kids and set off for a run. I wrapped my leg and was feeling good, by the end of the first mile I actually had a smile on my face. I could feel my shoulders relax and I was loving it. At about 2.25 mies I had to stop and tie my shoe, when I started running again, PAIN! It felt like it did the last weekend I ran. I kept running though and made it home, took some alieve and iced it. I felt better, just a little sore so I took the kids for a walk. Today I feel great so of course I'm debating on running again. I also think maybe I should just go to PAC and use the elliptical or swim, that will be hard to do though if it is so nice outside again.

I am also going to finish getting my house in order! I only have a few more loads of laundry to do, yay! We also have a super bowl party to go to this afternoon so it should be a busy day!
